The Centre of Educational Research and Evaluation was established according to a decision taken by the Council of Ministers in August 2008 and is accountable to the Ministry of Education and Culture. The mission/aim of the Centre of Educational Research and Evaluation is the promotion and establishment of research and the setting up of research infrastructure in the Cyprus educational system. The purpose of the Centre of Research and Evaluation is to conduct scientific research in education related issues (educational policy, curricula, textbooks, training), inclusive of the educational system in its entirety, as well as the ongoing scientific evaluation of the entire educational system and the results stemming from each innovation introduced in education. It, also, promotes and supports research in school units.
The main actions taken by the Centre of Educational Research and Evaluation are:
Internal Evaluations
Through assignment from the Ministry of Education and Culture, based on the priorities and needs of the M.O.E.C.
Research on general educational issues, on local and international level
Through collaborations with external partners and institutions or bodies
Always after the submission and evaluation of a relative research proposal
Maintaining a database for our educational system (provides valid and reliable information about our educational system to the Ministry of Education and Culture and the appropriate EU institutions)
Evaluation and indexing of researches conducted in our educational system.
Developing a research culture and strengthening the research infrastructure in schools.
