The Curriculum Development Unit (C.D.U.) began its mission in 1979.

Initially, each department of education operated independently. These were set up as follows:

• in 1986 for Secondary General and Secondary Technical Education

• in 1993 for Primary Education.

Since May 2002, a new Unit has been formed responsible for all the departments of education and was integrated with the Pedagogical Institute.
